Credit Union Quiz

Hearty congratulations to all the boys and girls who took part in the Annual Clones Branch Credit Union Quiz on Friday January 27th in Largy College.  The standard of questions on the night were extremely tough but all our teams performed brilliantly.  In the final round our junior team of Ava, Deirdre, Finn and James shocked the room by leap frogging from 2nd place to emerge as the 1st place winners.  Many thanks to the children on all the teams who showed great sportsmanship.  Thanks also to the marvellous parents who made sure their child/ren could attend.

Enrolment

On Saturday February 4th Scoil Mhuire Gransha and Gransha Montessori will hold an open day and enrolment day.  We are inviting parents and pupils, who intend to enrol from September 2017, to visit the school and Montessori from 12pm-2pm.

If you know of any family from outside our current school community that would like to attend please invite them along.

Walk the Earth

Walk the Earth in Scoil Mhuire Gransha continues with great zest and enthusiasm.  As well as physical activity, the Walk the Earth Initiative helps to contribute to the wellbeing of our pupils and teachers.  The children have completed over 2000 km of the targeted 10,000km.

Gransha Parent Association Update

  • Mark the date in your calendars! Gransha NS Annual Cycle takes place on Sunday April 9th. This will be the 4th year of our cycle and it has become a popular event with cyclists near and far.  Please keep the date free as the success of the event depends on the assistance of our parents.
  • On Wednesday February 8th the school will host a talk on Internet Safety. The overall objective of the session is to provide parents with information and skills to be able to engage in their children’s online lives.  Setting rules and boundaries around children’s Internet usage is an important aspect of keeping them safe on-line.  The talk will run from 7.30pm.   Please make best efforts to attend this worthwhile talk.

Aistear in the Junior Classroom

The topic this month is The Hospital.  We continue to use our “Magic Word Box” in all classes to encourage and develop oral language.  This is an opportunity to discuss the topic with your children.

Any parents, who work in a hospital environment and would like to volunteer their valuable insight and share their knowledge with the children, please contact the school.
